One of the biggest problems therapists face today

One of the biggest problems therapists face today.

I once asked a prominent hypnotherapy trainer how hypnotherapy works and why we enter a trance state. The response was, “You don’t need to know how a lightbulb works to make use of its light.” While this is a clever way to say “I don’t know,” it left me with more questions.

Can we effectively teach and apply something we don’t fully understand? This is a challenge faced by therapists of all kinds. On the surface, the answer seems reasonable, but it’s deeply flawed. What happens if something goes wrong? We can all use the light from a bulb, but if it goes out, what then? Is it the bulb, the switch, or the power source that’s failed? Without some knowledge, we can’t fix it.

Similarly, in therapy, it’s easy to put someone into a trance and deliver a script. Often, it works just like flipping a switch. But sometimes things go wrong. The process becomes a complex array of switches, where some need to be on, others off, and the power set just right. Simply inducing a relaxed state and delivering a script isn’t enough. Without deeper knowledge, you risk doing more harm than good in the long run.

This issue runs deeper and affects therapists who may not fully understand it. Using a lightbulb is commonplace now because society has accepted it. But when electricity and lightbulbs were first introduced, many people feared them, thinking they were the “devil’s work.” Imagine if Facebook existed back then—the groups and posts warning people not to use electric light would have been rampant.

The same fear and superstition apply to every new invention. The first cars, radio, TV, planes, vaccines, WiFi, 3G, 4G, and 5G all faced resistance. We tend to reject what we don’t understand. Throughout history, these innovations have only been accepted through knowledge and information (and sometimes misinformation).

In therapy, the system often works against us. Hypnosis, for example, is still viewed negatively, a perception fueled by films and media. If we can’t demonstrate an understanding of the process’s mechanics, we’ll always be fighting an uphill battle.

This is just one of the many reasons I created the Sanomentology program. I wanted to provide not only the best program and processes for healing and personal growth, but also the knowledge and understanding of how it all works. It’s not a single method or process, but a complete suite of programs along with accompanying knowledge. What is consciousness? How do issues develop? How does clearing them work? Why do we block ourselves? Why do some people struggle while others thrive? Just some of the questions that are answered in depth during the training. It not only teaches how the light works, but the entire process from generating electricity through to the wiring and switch setup.
With this knowledge and understanding, you have a better chance against a society that has mostly shunned the role of therapy. You have a better chance of delivering reliable and consistent results for your clients. And a better chance to succeed.

If you are serious about your role as a therapist, healer, coach, or change-worker, Sanomentology is a must-have library of theoretical knowledge and practical tools to carry you forward.
